As pointed out in “A Global Community based on our Higher Nature”, the explosion of knowledge is nudging humanity towards maturity, and that knowledge will have a huge transformative effect. Knowledge can be divided into sections, and the most interesting, is the section of knowledge that deals with what we don’t know, and we don’t even know that we don’t know it. Two hundred years ago the world was extremely primitive, and as always, knowledge based. There is a massive amount that we know today that they didn’t know then; and they didn’t even know that they didn’t know these things, for example: television, air transport, a system of global instant communication, and so on. Likewise, two hundred years from now, we will know infinitely more than we do today, and today, we don’t even know that we don’t know these things.
The knowledge that we have today is truly wonderful, but our present level of knowledge is such that even with it, our global society is almost totally dysfunctional. This is due to a lack of knowledge. We are about to get to know that knowledge, and when we do, it will change the world completely, infinitely more than it has, over the past two hundred years.
Knowledge of our material or phenomenal reality means that we understand DNA, we know how to split the atom, how to land on the moon, and so on, but, as a global society, we don’t know how to live in a way that is not dysfunctional, chaotic, war-like, poverty ridden, diseased, divided, stressed and dissatisfied in almost every way, and at every level. But we are but one step away from that knowledge or consciousness which will enable this to happen.
We will never understand everything, for example, at this point in our history, we don’t understand animal or human suffering, but we have a basic understanding, and the more we increase that understanding the more we will appreciate that everything in the universe is extremely wonderful, beautiful and purposeful, we will appreciate how it is organised, in one sense, not by its own knowledge, but by the underlying knowledge or laws that allows it to be as magnificent as it is. The component parts do not determine their own behaviour, for example, the moon’s behaviour is not determined by itself, but by gravity and other factors – underlying realities – but man is the exception, although our behaviour is determined by our emotions, knowledge and will power, we have the ability to change our knowledge, which will change our emotions, and subsequently our behaviour. It is absolutely clear, from the state of the world, that we need to change our behaviour, for we are destroying one another and our planet.
We destroy, when we have false concepts of reality; as humanity’s consciousness increases, these false concepts will decrease, and we will get closer to an understanding the reality of all things as they exist, not just the material reality, but also the spiritual reality. There will always be a gap between our understanding of what we believe to be true, i.e. knowledge, and the reality of all things as they exist, but our job is to narrow that gap. We have arrived at the dawn of a new day, for we are finally coming to an understanding that man’s reality is a spiritual reality, for we now want justice, unity and honesty which are spiritual qualities. The more we narrow the gap, the more we will become peaceful and fruitful, the more we will understand our oneness, our interdependence, our connectedness, and as we do, we will become more attracted to one another, to our environment, and instead of creating war, we will seek to create peace, instead of being guided by greed, we will be guided by our desire for all to have sufficient.
Life is so frantic and busy that we are “trapped” in our man-made, society-made, rich and powerful-made knowledge that we have a tendency to go around in circles, getting nowhere. Our suffering and the general state of affairs of mankind will enable us to slow down, allowing us to become ever more conscious of the underlying knowledge, and it will focus our attention on what is really important, it will energise us and make us enthusiastic and caring. For example, at the moment it is a mere statistic that 34,000 people die each day because we don’t have an economic or political system that is people-friendly. As we focus on reality, this statistic will be changed, from a mere statistic into a strong desire to act in a way that will change that reality. As we focus on our non-material or spiritual reality, our underlying knowledge or consciousness which is inherent in all of us, will manifest itself in many ways and will transform our lives, making them more beautiful and life-giving. There is about to be an explosion of this underlying knowledge and consciousness which will envelope the global environment and infuse our thinking and behaviour in a way that will transform human society. We are moving from darkness into light. This knowledge – this light can no longer be obscured. PPP is but one sign, among thousands, of this transformation.
